I just returned from a trip to Door County, Wisconsin, where I participated in a plein air painting festival. It was a great week, which I’ll go into more in a later post, but for now I just wanted to get some of my images posted here. These are all paintings I did while out on this trip. At the reception Friday night I won first place in the “People’s Choice Award,” which was a huge honor. I really enjoyed getting to know so may great painters and seeing so much great art created. But I’ll get into all of that in another post. For now I’m running around trying to get things back in order back at home.

And sorry for the image quality in some of these. I didn’t have ideal conditions to photograph alot of these, but I wanted to share some of these paintings anyway.

Addison Gallery Opening...

I’m on Cape Cod for the weekend to attend the reception for a show of my work at the Addison Gallery, along with two other painters, Jeff Bonasia and Marc Knudmann. The reception was this evening, and was alot of fun. I met some great people, and enjoyed seeing some of Jeff’s and Marc’s new paintings. If you are coming to the cape anytime soon, you should stop by and see the show.   www.addisonart.com

The painting above is at the gallery along with several paintings of the cape and several Maine scenes.
This trip is short, because I have to hustle back to Maine to get ready for a quick visit in Michigan next weekend, on my way to spending a week in Wisconsin at the Door County Plein Air Festival. This is my first time being a part of one of these week long festivals, but I’m really excited to see how it goes. I, along with 39 other invited artists, will be painting landscapes on site and attending alot of events to help promote the festival, and the show of our work at the end of the week. I know of a few other artists whose work I follow, that will also be participating. It should be a good event, and if you want to find out a little more about it you can check their website, www.doorcoutypleinair.com

FAN Gallery Opening on Fri July 3rd...

Tomorrow evening, July 3rd, I will be heading to the F.A.N. Gallery in Philadelphia for the opening reception for my current show. The gallery is at 221 Arch St, and I’m really happy with how the show looks, so if you get a chance, you should stop by and check it out. The show is half Maine paintings and half Philly scenes. Both of the paintings above are in the show. The top one is a painting of Higgins Beach in Maine, and the bottom one is a scene of Boston common.

I’ll still be running around a bit for the next month, but this week has been a great break from the constant stress of painting and framing and delivering work to galleries. I’ve been hanging out at the beach in New Jersey, and I’m loving the warm water and sunny days. Surfing has been pretty good, the food has been excellent, and I’ve been able to visit alot of family. Not a bad little break!
