Art/Work...
This painting is an old one. It’s long gone but I saw it in my files and thought it would be fun to post again. I enjoy all of the wild colors here.
This past week I made a trip to Baltimore and New York. I had a good time and found some fun new things. First I want to mention a book I bought in New York at the Strand. (If you haven’t been there it is a ton of fun to go browse through their stacks and stacks of art books) The book Art/Work is one that has been written about on blogs and I had only a passing interest in it till I picked it up.
This book is full of great info on how to go about the profession of being an artist. There are great resources for anyone trying to figure out how to navigate the world of selling fine art. After 8 years of selling my paintings I still found plenty of useful information that will help me be more intelligent and efficient in my career. This book advises on how to approach galleries and how to deal with them once you get in. I’m really enjoying reading it cover to cover, but you can also just pick it up and read whatever section is applicable to your current situation. Since I’ve figured out most of my current system by trial and error I am very interested in the authors’ advice in most areas. The authors are Heather Darcy Bhandari and Jonathon Melber.
