Peggys Cove 8×10″ oil on linen panel.
These paintings are from my road trip to Nova Scotia in September. I like thinking of them as documentation of different places I visited, sort of a visual journal. The landscape was pretty similar to Maine’s, but had a quieter beauty. I really enjoyed these paintings, and breaking the scenes down into their simple shapes.

This is a painting of a Maine donkey, or as my friend Frank Gardner put it, a yankee donkey. When I was visiting Frank in Mexico he ponted out the differences between Mexican and yankee donkeys, and they were actually pretty obvious… most notably the sway back is way more pronounced on donkeys up here in the states.
The painting above is in a small works show that is currently on display at the Courthouse Gallery of Art in Ellsworth, Maine. I also have work in small works shows at the Addison Gallery in Orleans, MA and at the Dowling Walsh Gallery in Rockland, ME.
So for a bit of news, my uncle Steve sent me an article in the Wall Street Journal about the college I attended, Cooper Union. The article is about a new building that certainly stands out in its surroundings. See the article here and check out this wild architecture.
Also, I just got a t-shirt from my friend Alexia. The shirt has some of her art on it and I love it. You can see her beautiful art and other fun projects, like my new t and an amazing project she got involved in with Dell computers where they are covering the outside of some of their laptops with her art. Go check out her website! She is awesome. I wish I needed a new laptop because I love these designs!!
