This Friday I will be at Smith Killian Gallery in Charleston, SC for the opening reception of a group show, and I am teaching a two day workshop. I keep hearing great things about how beautiful Charleston is. I am excited to check out the city and the work at the gallery.
The truck in the painting above is a plow truck that I see on the side of rte 1 whenever I drive to Belfast. I finally pulled over and asked to paint it, but realized the only safe places to stand were across the street (too far away) or right in front of it. At first I did not think I could do something with a view this close, but then I realized I could crop tight on the truck and get an interesting composition. I ended up happy with what I got.
