Bottom of the Hill...

This is a 12×16″ painting of route 1 as it passes through Waldoboro. This is definitely not a typically picturesque scene, but I am always struck by the view of this large valley in the afternoon light. There are chain restaurants and gas stations on both sides of the road, and lots of traffic, but the road going up the hill and the dramatic lighting made this a fun scene to paint. I am looking forward to going back to try this again from another angle.

  1. I love how you transform a not-so-lovely place into something beautiful Your garden painting is fantastic too.

This one has a lot of what I am drawn to in your paintings, like roads that curve, a familiar scene from my locale that you have been able to universalize, and a loose, skillful style. Light. Its as if you find and paint what I, and I imagine many others, love about where we live.
