Afternoon on the water...

This is one of the many smaller paintings I’ve done on location to study the color and light effects for the larger paintings in my previous post. This is 16×12″. I was experimenting with how to capture the light in the sky and on the water. I also played around with some different paint application, and I’m happy with how some of that worked out. For the glare on the water, I left some blank canvas and in the clouds I also let some white show through. It’s fun to have a scene that I can keep coming back to and trying to get a better feel for the scene.
