Maine Shoreline...

This is another small studio painting, 11×14″. I have been working on getting a strong sense of light in my studio work. I find it much easier when working on site, but in the studio I have to really push the values and color temp to get a decent feeling of full sun. I’m also using these smaller paintings to help set up ideas for larger paintings. This one might just make the cut.

A figure in those rocks would add scale.

Thanks everyone. And yes, I think you’re right Dave. Figures would make it interesting by adding a sense of scale. But it was too cold for anyone to be seen walking around on those rocks. I guess I could have made a few up.

  5. Beautiful light on the water!!!!
