One of the great things about living on the coast is working on painting the effects of light on water. I have always had fun with trying to paint the glare of sun on water, and I find it can be particularly dramatic when it’s happening around a boat with a dark hull. Even though there are a lot of beautiful sailboats in the harbors around here, I still prefer to paint an old working lobster boat.

This is really good, love it. Also has that mistique of who or whom is sitting in the shadow.
Yeah paint them while you still can. Wish I could see more wooden boats down here in Galveston. So far there’s the Ellisa a tall ship and I’ve seen a Herreshoff 12 1/2 gaff rigged. Of course there’s always shrimpboats down here. I love the way you have no fear of color, awesome to have.
