A few weeks ago I got outside to paint on location in Rockland. This is a 20×24″ painting I did at Knight’s Marine while they still had a lot of lobster boats up out of the water. Usually when I start a painting of a scene like this I can take comfort in knowing that even if the light changes, at least the boat’s not going anywhere. But after working on this for an hour I was told that this boat was about to be put in the water. I was lucky enough to work through the rest of the afternoon and pack up my gear with out seeing the boat go anywhere. I liked the variety of blues in this scene from the sky to the shadow on the hull to the bottom paint.
