A fruit cart in the jardin, the center of town. 8×10″

Sunset from the roof of the place where we stayed. I enjoyed going up to do quick studies of the sun going down in the evenings. 8×10″

These cactus are growing on Rancho Sol Dorado. I love the shape of the catus in the foreground with the mountains as a backdrop. 8×10″ I think I’ll use this one as a study for a larger painting this winter.

I was lost when I stumbled onto this street. It was a great place to paint. I like the old church tower with the modern power lines. It was a very steep street to set the easel up on. This is a bigger one at 24×18″

Frank took Dan Corey and I to the top of the hill where we painted this. It was a hell of a hike, but the view was worth it. The sun would poke through the clouds and light up different parts of the landscape while we worked. Frank did a great painting from up there. This one is 8×10″.
I have some other images I’ll be keeping to do paintings from, and others will be at the showat Addison Gallery, or the Cape Cod Museum of Art. The last two of these images, along with a few others can be seen at my friend Frank’s gallery, Galeria Gardner in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Whoa… those are gorgeous. It’s wild how different the colors are in these paintings than your Maine paintings. Guess it only stands to reason… but it’s still awesome to see your recognizable style with a totally different palette.
sweet~ love the freshness!
Great stuff! I’ll get some blog posts up too as soon as I recover a little more energy. What an awesome time!
Loved the postings on FB, the videos, the photos and the camaraderie that was transmitted on everyone’s face.
A very impressive collective and so many wished they could have just been a fly in the linseed oil.
I love this steep street scene in all it’s reds both hot and cool. And flirtation with vertigo, how authentic you made it.
WOW! Need I say more?
Beautiful work, Colin. The sense of depth and the sense of open space is astounding.
I love these paintings! Impressionistic by nature with excellent balance of colors, they present the athmosphere of Mexico very well.

I just found your blog with the photos and paintings of San Miguel. What a wonderful place to visit. I was there in April and loved it. I visited Frank Gardner’s gallery and was impressed with the work. I did not get an opportunity to do any paintings but I have many great photos.
Hi Colin, I just discover your website from a link in wetcanvas and I like a lot what you are doing. I am in San Miguel de Allende and I can tell you have captured very well the light this far south and also the color of the town and the mood. Look forward to see it at your friends gallery soon.
I especially love the painting inSan Miguel of the view of the church tower from the top of the street. I was there and you captured the feeling of what the town feels like..warm , colorful and lots of interesting angles. I would love to see this wonderful painting. Where will it be on display?
Awesome stuff. Nice to read some well written content. A big gap between them.
