Back on Land

Thursday August 14, 2008

The workshop this past weekend was alot of fun. We got pretty decent weather… two days of sun and a day of clouds, but with dry skies!!! Fog was a bit of an issue Sunday morning but it was a good exercise in patience. And later in the day the sun was out while we painted on land in Vinalhaven in a beautiful meadow. We spent the first day and a half in the Fox Island Thoroughfare, then painted in Winter Harbor and ended in Pulpit Harbor before heading home Tuesday. Patty, Carol and Kathy all did very well and were great painting buddies on the boat.

We got alot of painting done and had a good time hanging out with the crew on the boat. John, the cook, treated us to some decadent meals on board. Nick, Ari, Zack and Katie were alot of fun as the crew. Ari led a morning workout for all of us on the boat most mornings. Katie, Ari and I all went for a swim Sunday afternoon off the side of the boat. Water temp was about 62 degrees! Dwight was a fun captain. He even let me steer the 115 foot long schooner for two hours as we drove to pulpit harbor.

Abby, the boss, has some great photos of us painting and goofing off on the boat. Once she gets me some of those pics I’ll put some up here on the journal.

For now, here are some paintings I did as demos or while working side by side with my students:

North Haven Boathouse 11×14”
Meadow Woman 11×14”
Ripples 6×8”
Winter Harbor Fog 6×8”
