First of all I’ll apologize for not writing more frequently these days. Secondly, I’ll apologize because if anything, I’ll probably writing less and less frequently for the next few months. This is the time of year when I really get strung out trying to get alot of work done. For the past week I’ve been doing alot of studio work (non-painting) and also trying to get the house and garden ready for summer. Things seem to be piling up endlessly on my to-do list, and I’m just trying to knock them off one at a time. Last week I had a few nights of restless sleep where I was actually having dreams about stretching canvas and making frames and I couldn’t catch up… not necessarily nightmares, but what Kathy calls “stress-dreams.” I’ve only been able to get out and paint a few times, but I have been making some fun paintings.

A few things to share:
great new podcasts I’ve been listening to:
BBC’s Start the Week. Excellent. Very Intelligent.
This Week with George Stephanopolous. unreliable feed, but good discussion
CBC Radio “Ideas”. Just started with this one, but I like it so far.

Unfortunately, podcasts rarely deal with art-making in any meaningful way, so most of the podcasts I listen to are about politics, or culture in general. If I ever do find one that seems well made and comsistently interesting, I’ll be sure to post it here. As a result of my frustration with podcasts I do have a set of blogs I look into pretty frequently.

Good blog posts to check out:
Discussion of the sciece of color.

My buddy Frank Gardner posting about your’s truly. Thanks Frank.

This is just a little 12 X 16” painting, but I enjoy the way the warms and cools play off each other and create a sense of light.

I’ve been thinking of doing some stuff on here with showing some of my paintings in progress. The trick will be to remember my camera when I go out to paint, and then to remember to take breaks to photograph work along the way. I’ve been checking out other blogs and always find it interesting to see how we differ in approach. I’m also planning on updating this site with paintings that I’ve been squirreling away in my studio, saving for shows this summer. You may have to wait for some rainy days though.
