Summer Madness

Friday July 18, 2008

I’ve got a few new paintings that I thought I could share with you. I’ve been traveling alot and painting has come in bursts of a few days with long breaks in between. It’s just the nature of my summers that I have to run around a bit, but I get frustrated with painting. I’ve done a few paintings I really enjoy, and balanced those out with some real duds. It feels like I’m having to struggle a bit more than usual with the paint. When I paint everyday it comes naturally for the most part, so I’m just trying to get back to that level of familiarity with the medium. Below are some of the paintings I’ve been happy with.

Also, if any of you are in the Philadelphia area in the next week, stop by the FAN Gallery to see my show before it comes down on Saturday the 26th. The gallery and I are really happy with how this year’s show came out and I want everyone to see it. So if you get a chance try to walk through it.

And if any of you are in Boston, there’s a show at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a painter named Antonio Lopez Garcia, which also closes next weekend. I think it would be well worth your time to see his work. And while you’re there I have a painting up at a show at the Copley Society on Newbury St. It’s on the website here under “available paintings” and it’s called The Boathouse.
